JOB DESCRIPTION

We are Hiring: Chef – Salt Meats Cheese Cronulla

Salt Meats Cheese Cronulla is on the lookout for an experienced and driven Chef to join our lively, modern Italian kitchen. Our venue blends Italian tradition with a creative twist, delivering fresh, flavor-packed dishes in a vibrant beachside setting. We’re all about great food, great vibes, and even better people. Full time
Salary: AUD 76,600 to $80,000 (excluding superannuation)

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment

  • Organize and prep ingredients (e.g. chopping vegetables, cutting meat)

  • Cook high-quality dishes and ensure exceptional presentation before service

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen at all times

  • Ensure food and supplies are properly stored and rotated

  • Assist the Head Chef in developing new menu items and seasonal offerings

  • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish rosters, and evaluate performance

  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage shortages efficiently

  • Respond to customer feedback and resolve any food-related complaints

  • Provide oversight and direction to the kitchen team in line with company standards

  • Lead the kitchen to meet targets for quality, consistency, and productivity

  • Establish and maintain controls to monitor and improve kitchen performance

  • Manage kitchen budgets, control costs, and minimize food and labour waste

  • Represent and promote the Salt Meats Cheese brand professionally and enthusiastically

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen culture

  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring new kitchen staff

  • Implement and uphold all Workplace Health and Safety and food safety protocols

  • Proven experience in a similar chef role (experience with Italian cuisine is a bonus!)

  • Excellent kitchen management and leadership skills

  • Passionate about quality food and great presentation

  • Strong time management, communication, and team-building abilities

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high standards

  • Working rights in Australia (Student and WHV welcome)

  • Current Food Safety and WHS knowledge
